Local charities and community groups are being invited to apply for grants that will help make a difference as Andrew Grey Funeral Directors, with four branches in the Hetton area, opens the first round of their Community Fund.
Up to £3,000 in total is available from the funding pot for two cycles across the year, with grants of up to £750 per applicant. The fund aims to support local activities that enhance the quality of life for residents living within a 2-mile radius of their funeral homes in Hetton-Le-Hole, Houghton-Le Spring, Easington Lane and South Hetton.
Projects must align with one or more of four categories: Health, Education, Employment Opportunities, and Poverty and Social Deprivation.
The deadline for applications for the first cycle is Sunday 29 March. The second cycle of their Community Fund grants will open to receive applications in late June.
Gillian Grey, Office Manager at Andrew Grey, said: “As a funeral service rooted in the community, it’s a privilege to support inspiring organisations that are making such a positive difference locally. We’re delighted to be able to offer this funding and would encourage any local groups with a project that supports the community to apply.”
