Community Activities
Two well-deserving community projects making a positive impact on people’s quality of life in and around Hetton Le Hole, South Hetton, Houghton Le Spring and Easington Lane have received a financial boost thanks to the Andrew Grey Community Fund.
The latest recipients are:
Houghton Brass: We were delighted to award £810 to Shelly and Catherine on behalf of Houghton Brass Band. Their project will help support the continued development of this much-loved local organisation, ensuring music and community spirit continue to thrive for future generations.
Space4: We were also delighted to meet Justine from Space4 to award £690 to support their Community Craft Programme. This fantastic project provides creative opportunities for local people, helping to bring the community together, develop new skills and promote wellbeing through arts and crafts.
Cheques were presented by Andrew and Gillian Grey at their recent Macmillan Coffee Morning, to showcase the charities in front of the community. It was a privilege to meet the successful applicants of our 2026 programme and see the impact this funding will have on our community.
The Andrew Grey Community Fund supports local charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations dedicated to making a positive difference within our community. In 2026, we committed a total of £3,000 to the programme, distributed across two funding rounds to support a variety of worthwhile local initiatives.
