    Business Principal

    “I wanted to maintain a dignified Funeral Directors in Sunderland, serving the communities of Hetton Le Hole, Houghton Le Spring and Easington Lane. I’ve spent all my life here, and as a member of my local community, I feel privileged to be able to help you in your time of need.” — Andrew Grey

    Gillian Grey

    Office Manager

    Gillian has managed the business since it was established with her husband Andrew in 2011 after previously working in management for Royal Caribbean cruise line travelling the world.

    Working alongside Andrew and the rest of the staff in the office, she manages the team and assists in all aspects of the clerical side of funeral arrangements and aftercare of the families.

    The most rewarding part of her role is helping bereaved families during their most difficult time to ensure all is done in accordance with and their loved ones wishes.

    Outside of work, Gillian enjoys walking Monty the dog and taking their son to watch Sunderland AFC when he’s not playing cricket or football himself.

    Ben White

    Funeral Director

    Ben has been with Andrew Grey Funeral Directors since 2018, and finds the most rewarding part of his job is helping and guiding the bereaved, hearing their stories and helping them to create a fitting tribute and celebration of their loved one. He is a father of 3 (and ‘Dad’s taxi’ for them) and has been happily married for over 20 years. He also enjoys going to gigs and the theatre, having recently seen Elton John, Iron Maiden, Wicked, and The Lion King.

    Rhonda Richardson

    Funeral Director

    Rhonda started with Andrew Greys in 2023 where she is one of the Funeral Directors, but has been in our industry since 2019. Being fully trained in caring for your loved one and making sure they look their best, she also supports logistics to ensure that funerals run perfectly, and our ceremonial vehicles are pristine for your loved one’s final journey. Rhonda is very passionate about her role and says it gives her great satisfaction and a real sense of fulfilment to know she has supported people to navigate through such a difficult and upsetting time. It is very important to her to make sure each service uniquely represents the individual and their wishes.

    Joanne Marriner

    Receptionist / Admin

    Joanne joined the team in 2025 after previously working locally within the NHS. After deciding to change careers, transferring the skills gained in her long NHS career to assist ourselves and the families within our area, Joanne has become an asset to our team based in our Chilton Moor and Hetton-le-Hole branches.

    Her love of travel has taken her all over the world, but her favourite place has to be Italy. Joanne has two dogs and loves getting away with them and her husband for lovely weekends away. When she’s not away, Joanne loves visiting the theatre and pottery painting.

    Ross Luke

    Funeral Service Operative

    Ross has worked in the funeral industry since 2007 and joined Andrew Grey Funeral Directors in 2024. He finds great satisfaction in helping families, especially taking care of their loved ones, assisting at their time of need and helping to oversee our Jaguar fleet.
    Outside of work, he is a big car fan and a Formula 1 fanatic.

    Simon Brigdon

    Funeral Service Operative

    Simon joined the team in 2025 after having a varied career which has given him opportunities to travel the world, taking in Australia, North and South America and Asia.

    The most rewarding part of the job for Simon is looking after the loved ones who are trusted into our care.

    Whilst not at work, Simon loves nothing more than being at home with his wife and 3 sons.
